Black Carbon Fiber Nuclear Nylon v3: material and uses
Nuclear Nylon v3 uses an alloyed PA copolymer resin with adhesion promoters, impact modifiers and USA-made milled carbon fiber, rather than carbon powder or dust. It produces rigid parts with a black, matte-textured finish. Consider it for jigs, fixtures, brackets and functional models. Made in Indiana, USA.
Intended for experienced nylon users. Added stiffness is not a guarantee of greater toughness in every direction. Part geometry, layer orientation, moisture condition and printing setup affect performance; test parts under their intended loads.
Indicative color reference: #3F3F3F, attributed to Filamentcolors.xyz. Screens and printing conditions affect perceived color; a flat hex reference cannot capture the matte texture.
Printing Black Carbon Fiber Nuclear Nylon v3
Published nozzle temperature: 265–285°C. Nozzle diameter: 0.50 mm minimum, 0.60 mm recommended. Print speed: 35–45 mm/sec. The carbon fiber is abrasive; use a hardened or wear-resistant nozzle.
Published bed temperature: 60°C. Recommended surface: warm glass coated with PVA or Magigoo, or another nylon-friendly build surface. Confirm your printer supports the required temperatures and follow its guidance for filled nylon.
Dry handling and storage
Nuclear Nylon v3 must be stored dry and printed dry. Each spool ships dry and includes a reusable moisture indicator card. If you are new to nylon, dry the spool before the first print and use a dry box or sealed enclosure during printing.
Moisture causes weak, failed prints and voids warranty claims.
Use the technical data sheet and suitable drying-equipment guidance for drying conditions; do not transfer another material’s drying schedule unchanged.
Quality and specifications
Manufactured with laser-based diameter and roundness monitoring. Published diameter and roundness tolerances: ±0.04 mm or better. Refer to the available variant above for spool and diameter details.
